September 2009Dear Ski friends
Time is as always passing very fast and we have already a new fun ski season waiting for us around the corner. If the serious personal training in preparation for next ski season has not yet begun, it is time to do so and also not to forget to book your ski vacation. We are still booking for 2010 but we are also gathering pre reservations for the season 2011.
In my job as responsible for CMH Heli-Skiing sales & marketing on the Nordic market, I meet a lot of skiers who have dreamt about Heli-skiing for a long time but not yet done it. It is quite normal for first timers to think about how good of a skier do I need to be and what about risks for avalanches? Absolutely relevant questions to which I reply with facts like, if you feel convenient to ski in any groomed ski run, regardless level of difficulty, you are ready for Heli-skiing. CMH offers introduction weeks for those of you who have never tried off-pist and if you have some experience but want to improve the technique CMH Nordic will guide you with how to organize an off-pist coach back home or in Canada prior to the heli-ski adventure. As to the thoughts of risks in a back country terrain, an important fact is that safety is a top priority for CMH. I am confident to say that I
feel even safer in the wild mountains together with a professional and experienced mountain guide, than in a ski resort with thousands of skiers, some good and many beginners skiing equally fast resulting in risks. However, one of the most important preparations before a Heli-ski week is to be fit, in order to fully be able to enjoy the best skiing adventure in your life.

CMH 2010 news
Gothics
Claude Duchesne, manager at CMH Gothics heli-ski area, proudly presents an upgraded ski lodge and a program adapted for 3 ski groups with 11 skiers in each group, like our classic Bobbie Burns heli-ski area. Less skiers allow Gothics guests to get a lot of skiing, which also requires that you need to be real fit!
Galena
In December, we reopen the Galena lodge after a reconstruction, offering amongst other a new spa
Nomads
A popular new program for those of you who have skied with us before and want to discover more of CMH fabulous ski terrains. You can ski in 3-6 CMH Heli-ski areas during a period of 4, 5 or 7 days in ski groups of 4-10 skiers. You will overnight in different CMH lodges and transport is naturally by private helicopters. Prices starts from CAD 12.800.
Combi week
If you are looking for Heli-skiing but want to start with a warm-up at a ski-resort in British Columbia and you have a limited time at your disposal, CMH offers a Combi program in Revelstoke with 3-5 days Heli-skiing combined with skiing in the newly opened Revelstoke Skiresort – presently offering the largest verticals in North America. Or any other ski-resort that you may prefer.
K2 test weeks
In March 13-20 and April 10-17, 2010, CMH organizes K2 ski test weeks in Monashees and Adamants. Test K2 skis and leave your opinion about the skis and you will get a pair for free before the season 2011.
Ski touring
Back to the roots! The founder of CMH, Hans Gmoser from Austria,
started his journey to built the world’s first and eventually largest organizer of Heli-skiing, by guiding ski-touring guests. CMH now offers ski-touring program with the possibility to unify with the wilderness in the Columbia Mountains. You will ski in a separate group of 10 guests and 2 mountain guides, staying at the same lodge as our Heli-ski groups. To be able to enjoy every hour of your stay, our ski touring guests will be flown out in the morning by the helicopter and be picked up at the end of the day. CAD 3.700 for a week including all services at the lodge and transport from/to Calgary international airport. If you gather a group of 10 skiers, we will be able to offer you a week and ski area of your choice in the month of April, provided there is space available.
